Mr. Chatzikonstantinou is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL), specialising in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery. With over 15 years of experience and a portfolio of more than 1,000 laparoscopic procedures, he is an expert in the surgical management of gallbladder disease, abdominal wall hernias, and acid reflux in South East London.
He completed his surgical training in London at several prestigious institutions, including King’s College Hospital and St. Thomas’ Hospital. He further specialised in Benign UGI and Bariatric Surgery through a Royal College of Surgeons Senior Clinical Fellowship at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and holds a Master’s degree in Surgical and Interventional Sciences from University College London (UCL).
Beyond the operating theatre, Mr. Chatzikonstantinou is dedicated to the global advancement of surgical standards. A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, he serves on the Communications and Development Committee of the European Chapter of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO-EC), where he helps foster international professional networks.
At University Hospital Lewisham, he serves as the Lead for Clinical Governance. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing patient safety and quality assurance, ensuring that the surgical department maintains the highest standards of clinical excellence and continuous service improvement.
